TO BE A MAN

TO BE A MAN......

....is to be conscious of ourselves and our health. No longer are the days when a man shouldn't go to the doctor or hospital because it is a sign of weakness. We have to know our bodies, our spirits and let them guide us to health. Last March I had a headache in my left eye for a month. It was a constant headache and I just thought it was stress. When i finally went to the Doctor, that day changed my way of thinking about my health. I had succumb to a Neurol disease that could have left me with dementia and possibly death. Being in the hospital for three and a half weeks, I grew to appreciate my body and the signals and grew more in-tune with them.
As of March 18, I developed Prostate Cancer! WHAT, me Mark A. Yeast? I  never thought I would hear those words. GENTLEMEN, it is very possible, no matter what your belief is, no matter how much you run, no matter how much you weight, YOU TOO could be at risk for Prostate, Colon, or Testicular Cancer.

Before I found my diagnosis, I always supported my friends who either had this terrible disease or people that they may have known. I have many friends who have survived. People who have been active in their health because they cared for the people in their lives and themselves. You all have my love and admiration I would list your names if I knew it wouldn't bother you. I am proud to be your friend. You are the bravest souls in the world. When it comes time in October to wear pink for Breast Cancer these are the women I do it for.. Most have not had it but some have. Michelle, I will always be indebted to you for your words of support and your determination and your Victory over Cancer.

Because of a Strong Man, who now is one of my biggest Hero's, I too am going through a stage of life that really defines you after you get the prognosis. Yesterday, I heard my options for the cure. Although i am in the Early Stage of this cancer, I am not out of the woods. Cancer can spread at any moment. There is no limit to it overtaking your body. I am honestly still reeling from the options and different procedures and I am trying to figure out what is best for me. I am going to insert myself into other people's lives. People who have had this disease and beat it. Those real men that decided that life was more than just silly old ways of thinking......... JUST BECAUSE YOU THINK YOUR A MAN

Know your PSA scores, get checked yearly, and if there is cancer in your family start at 40. I have had the realization and now have the knowledge that I can say this to you. I am SERIOUSLY asking you to care for you family, your mother, your father, your siblings.....MOST OF ALL CARE FOR YOU. Get your Prostate, Colon and Testicles checked annually. It may not be the most pleasant of procedures, but you will WIN IN THE END >>>>>>>> Mark
